"A set" is a collective noun so it takes the singular: was

It can be confusing eg "a set of stamps WAS stolen" BUT "some stamps WERE stolen"

What do you call sets within another set?

If all elements of set A are also elements of set B, then set A is a subset of set B.

Is the set of odd numbers closed under multiplication?

Yes.To say a set is closed under multiplication means that if you multiply any 2 numbers in the set, the answer will always be a member of the set. When you multiply 2 odd numbers, the answer is always an odd number, so the set is closed. It must be the same person asking these questions!Read more: Is_the_set_of_odd_integers_closed_under_subtraction

What does it mean if an integer is closed?

You don't say that "an integer is closed". It is the SET of integers which is closed UNDER A SPECIFIC OPERATION. For example, the SET of integers is closed under the operations of addition and multiplication. That means that an addition of two members of the set (two integers in this case) will again give you a member of the set (an integer in this case).

In algebra what is a set?

A set is a collection (or list) of objects called "elements", that are normally of the same type. The objects can be anything, but the set does not contain any duplicate values.Example 1 : The set of integers (whole numbers) = { ... , -2 , -1, 0 , 1, 2, ... }It is usually denoted as Z in "Blackboard Bold" and is an infinite set because it has an infinite amount of elements.Example 2 : The set of primary colours = { Red, Blue, Green}This is a finite set because it only contains 3 elements.A set in algebra is a set...That's the beauty of algebra - it's so general, it's not just about numbers!

Give two reason for the set of odd integers is not a group?

Assuming that the question is in the context of the operation "addition", The set of odd numbers is not closed under addition. That is to say, if x and y are members of the set (x and y are odd) then x+y not odd and so not a member of the set. There is no identity element in the group such that x+i = i+x = x for all x in the group. The identity element under addition of integers is zero which is not a member of the set of odd numbers.
