The distances between the stars are so great that no one can travel to another star in his or her lifetime. It may not be for thousands or tens of thousands of years, but I am very confident that we or the creatures that evolve from us will one day travel to other stars.

This is a very broad question, Humans are very adaptable creatures and we adapt our environment to suit us instead of the other way around. There is currently a proposal for a colony on Mars which will live in Domes and grow plants to make oxygen and squeeze water out of the ice at the southern pole and recycle it.
In the future we may find that there are other earth like worlds which are better suited for human life but for now were stuck with Mars.
