Best Answer

Yes. There are many significant waterways in Australia.
The Murray River is Australia's longest navigable river, and well known for its stretches of sandy beaches. It was used extensively for transport in the past, with paddle steamers transporting goods and passengers from where it forms most of the border between Victoria and New South Wales, to Goolwa, near its mouth, in South Australia.

In addition, the Darling River is a significant waterway as well, as are the Murrumbidgee and Lachlan Rivers.

Each of the rivers on which the capital cities are built are important waterways, utilised for transporting goods, for recreation and for commuters.
