I was getting severe, scarring fungal infections that the anti fungal creams would not cure. The Triamcinolone stops the itching and burning, as well as the swelling which allowed the anti fungal cream to work much more effectively and quicker.
What you describe might reduce the itch somewhat but are not the recommended treatment for athletes foot. There are anti-fungal medications specifically for that problem that you can get, without a prescription, at your local drugstore. Steroid creams of any kind should not be used on fungal infections.
