If it's still factory it will have an HEI ignition system.
No points after 1974.
Actually the complete distributor will fit from the small block to the big block.
small block Chevrolet with HEI ignition is 45
Hei dai chou qiu - 1974 was released on: USA: January 1974
depends on the ignition system you're using. Hei
an hei has a solid state ignition module rather than mechanical points... the hei is capable of much higher coil voltages because there are no points to wear out.....the hei is better in terms of performance and longevity
Hei dai chou qiu - 1974 is rated/received certificates of: USA:R
On the dist., cap, where the wires go in, there is a tab labeled TACH.
No you cannot. Big block parts are all different then small block parts. The distributor cap WILL WORK. That answer is incorrect. Big Block and small block Chevrolet distributors physically interchange with no problem (unless it's a tall deck block like a 502)
Well on a small block Chevy there will be no coil wire going from the top of the cap to a coil. What you can do to see the difference is go here.
that should have the HEI distributor so the plugs should be set at .045
