Kinda-sorta.
Most cars, the heater is part of the cooling system. If you pull the heater hose off you're left with a hole that'll drain the coolant out. If for some reason you want to run a car w/o the heater hose or the heater, you need to make sure that the coolant still can circulate as it's expected. You'll either need to plug something, or run a bypass loop.
to engine and rad
bought 80 corvette , i need to figure out how to run vacum hose to the head lights . This car , i have to start from scratch . No hose, need how run hose to fix heads lights
You don't need to know what hose is which just take them both off and run a pipe from one to the other. You can but bypass kits at the parts store. GoodluckJoe
yeah its the heater radiator Heater core. They are cheapto replace (part) but labor intensive (not cheap). You can bypass with a hose connector & 2 clamps if you need to run the car. Look for the 2 inlets on engine side, pass side of car, pull hoses & connect them together.
u dont need a book. go to the end of the hose on the radiator on the pulley side and thare is two bolts whare the hose atches to the motor. pull the two bolts and the heater core is right under that. take it out and put the new one in ,but dont forget the gasket. tighen it doun and let the car run for a while.
take one end of your heater hose off the heater core and run it back to the intake port.
I disconnect both heater hose off of the engine, then fabricate a fitting that will attach a garden hose to one of the heater hoses. While directing the other hose towards a bucket, I gently turn on the water supply to wide open and let the water run until it shows clear, then reverse the flow into the heater by switching hoses and repeat.
if you can smell antifreeze you need to replace the heater core in the vehicle
Slack one of the heater hoses at the fire wall so that you can remove it easily. With the hose still on, run the engine up to operating temp. with the heater on full inside the car. Slowly open the heater hose slightly to let the air out, some coolant will come out also, that's ok, repeat this till both heater hose's become as hot as each other. Top up the rad. and check for leaks. The coolant will drop on the exhaust, try not to breath this in.
Find the highest heater hose joint on the dash under the hood, turn the heater water control on, run the car so the water is circulating and loosen the clamp and loosen the joint at the hose to let the air out. When only coolant flows tighten the connection and your done.
the drain hose is plugged
Take out engine side hose by quick release remove plate then slip out black box. Replace metal tubes that run from the heater core to the firewall. remember to replace thermostat if need be and execute a coolant flush.
