Child support stops when the court order mandating it says it does and not until then (unless the parent paying the support dies, in which case he ... I'm assuming it's a he ... is pretty much beyond the reach of the court to enforce it).

If the situation changes (e.g. the child is no longer living with the custodial parent) then the non-custodial parent can go back to court to have the order modified. Until it's modified, keep making the payments.

Absolutely not - the child's needs do not stop upon the death of the custodial parent.

And, unless designated in a custody order and/or Will, the child does not automatically go to the other parent. The mother can designate anyone as guardian of the child, or if not designated, the child goes to her relatives or state family services.

Child support is not paid to the child[ren]. In the situation described above, support would be payable to the child's adult caretaker and/or the State (as reimbursement for assistance furnished).

In the state of Texas if you are seventeen and your parent is receiving child support does the child have to live at home for parent to continue child support?

Yes. Child support is for the "custodial parent". If you are not living at home with your custodial parent, then they are no longer eligible to receive child support. However, the non-custodial parent can request a modification if the child is no longer living with the custodial parent and that includes a change of custody. A 17 yr old is not emancipated in Texas, unless proper procedures through the courts have taken place. If that is the case, then the custodial parent and child are no longer eligible for child support.

If a 21 year old full time student lives on their own is the custodial parent entitled to child support?

If the support order included a provision continuing support while the child was enrolled in college it does not matter where the child is living, as the support is to reimburse the custodial parent for the non custodial parents share of the child's expenses. If the child is attending school the custodial parent is likely still paying expenses for that child regardless of where they are living

Can living with a custodial parent prevent the custodial parent from being awarded child support from the ex?

Not really the Judge will decide this matter for you.

Do you have to pay child support for a person who is 21?

Not usually, but there are some cases in which you might. 1. Some states require the non-custodial parent to continue to pay child support if the child hasn't graduated high school and is still living with the custodial parent. 2. If the child is disabled, there is no cut off age for ending child support. The non-custodial parent will continue to owe child support for as long as the disabled child lives with the custodial parent.

Does a father need to pay child support to the mother if the child does not live with her?

A parent must obey the child support order. A custodial parent may be serving in the military with the child under temporary guardianship. That is no reason to stop paying child support. If the child isn't living with the custodial parent who is receiving child support the matter must be brought before the court.

When a custodial parent dies is child support from a non custodial parent still due?

Of course. Unless the non-custodial parent takes sole custody, the non-custodial parent is still responsible for paying child support to whomever the child goes to. There is no reason the death of a parent should terminate the other parent's child support obligation.
