Well you are getting a deep cartilage piercing, yeah it's going to hurt for a few moments, but it's not that tough to deal with. You need to forget about pain and make your mind up about the aftercare and the end result, the pain is momentary thing the aftercare is a daily thing you need to stay on top of.

∙ 15y agoThis type of piercing doesnt hurt anymore then a regular ear piercing would. Ive had mine done before and they did it with a gun and i had no problems. Just make sure you look after it properly after its done i.e making sure you twist it every night and use some sort of cleaning product such as savalon spray or something to wash it. Happy Piercing x

∙ 13y agoWell, it depends where you get one. If you get one in the top of the ear, my friend says it doesn't hurt, because it just goes through 5 layers of cartilage. Lip and tongue piercings don't hurt too bad, either. Nose piercings don't hurt either. Over all, it really doesn't hurt to get a piercing. Good Luck! :)
actually, out of all piercings, cartilage piercings hurt more (besides uh.."downstairs") because it goes through hard, solid cartilage rather than flesh.
and if you ask a friend if their piercing hurt, they're most likely going to say it didn't no matter what, so you can't go by what your friend said.

∙ 14y agoIt really all depends on how you handle pain..... its a quick process it takes like 20 seconds to pierce and put in the jewelry.
Don't eat allot before you go or you might throw up but drink lots and when the piercer tells you to breath make sure you breath cause you might blackout if you don't.
Just wanted to tell you that its not a big thing ....when i got mine done it didn't hurt at all and here's a boost of confidence in 10 years old mines almost done healing..
Oh! and you cant go swimming.
Soon i am getting my Industrial Piercing.
You clean it twice a day and it takes 3 months to heal.

∙ 13y agoWell sure it does. I have mine pierced, cartilage piercings tend to hurt a bit worse than lobe or skin piercings due to all of the nerves and blood vessels that run through cartilage. It's really not that bad though, after a few weeks it didn't even hurt to sleep on it, for me.

When my Helix is healed i am getting my second ear lobe holes and then after that i am getting my industrial piercing with is a bar across your ear. (cartilage piercing). If it hurts to get your helix done don't get another cartilage piercing don't get an industrial if you ever want it cause it goes through your ear twice so its twice the pain.
