It certainly can. One N I was with, briefly, regularly brought up one of his ex's, making comments that "I am glad I broke up with her so he can enjoy her now"..very bitter comments like that. He would also say that the ex boyfriend looks like him too. So it's like everything revolves around him..even the ex looks like him..because the thought of being replaced is very painful for an N, who needs to feel like the most fantastic person ever.
I noticed this was a common, bitter complaint with this person..he also mentioned someone else "being happy despite not being with me"..read into it what you will. He clearly continues to have issues with women leaving him or those he leaves finding a replacement. I suppose in his mind they should be pining for him forever..or if they do get a new BF it's because they look like he does.
The thought of being discarded is too painful to face, so he makes up these scenarios.
