You put your guitar strings on the wrong tuning pegs does it matter?

Yes. If you wind the strings improperly it matters. Strings should be wound from the string hole down, (from high to low, or from the hole to the neck). If you do it the other way around, the tuning peg has more stress on it, and is more likely to not stay in tune. Never put more stress on the guitar neck or the headstock than you have to. You will stay better in tune for longer if you string properly.

∙ 13y agoyeah more than people would think. I'll break it down into laymen terms.
ok strings are like shoe sizes, size 8 or 9 is very small and size 13 is very big, they all look similar but the 8 is faster than the 13 to play.
so what does size have to do with it? the bigger the string the louder it is as it vibrates more, the thicker the string the better it is for low tuning which is why basses have such think strings.. along those lines. Also very thin strings can go into way higher tunings without breaking.
keep in mind the heavier the set is the stiffer it is for say standard tuning, I play 13-70 on one guitar for very low tunings , it can go into standard but its very hard to bend strings and stuff, 10-46 for soloing and rhythm parts.
brand and types, theres jazz type, average strings, ones made of steel, even ones with dynamite in them (Awesome if you're into metal). You don't really notice it at first but string brand and type go a long way. Some last longer and some sound better for a cheaper price.
interesting fact if you break a string and you have a friend who plays a heavier gauge (size) of strings you can still use theirs. a size 0.013 string (high E) from a black metal set will go perfect on your guitar perfectly for a B.

∙ 14y agoyes it does you really need to have the right strings for your guitar depending on what type it is If you own an acoustic guitar, you need "acoustic guitar strings". If you own a classical guitar, you need "classical guitar strings" or "nylon strings". An electric guitar needs "Electric Guitar strings". And a Bass Guitar needs "bass guitar strings".

an average guitar has 120 pounds of pressure in it so as long as its tuned properly and sitting correctly on the bridge and neck it should be fine. to tune by an electronic tuner and its (thickest to thinnest) EADGBE twist the tuners until they get to an E that isn't flappy (usually the second time around) its ok to see different letters it means the tuners working but if the strings get too tight they will snap, but no need to worry start at the thickest and work your way down.

A person can go to a variety of places to buy acoustic guitar strings. One place in particular that is generally available nearby in any town is Best Buy. Additionally any local music stores should either have the strings in-stock or have the capability to order them.

I've never heard of an electric nylon string guitar , so anyone correct me if I'm wrong but acoustic strings all the way. however.. if you got a pickup system that is in the top left of the guitar assuming you're right handed acoustic strings for sure nylon , well the bridge would be kind of different where you'd tie the strings to the bridge , if that is the case nylon all the way. It's tough to answer some questions on here without photos, google the brand , series and model number if you have it written / stamped somewhere on the guitar , if not strings are like 5$ , if you bring it to a shop they'll tell you in two seconds.
