The best nuts are peanuts and almonds, as they are mostly monosaturated fat and this is the kind of fat which is good for our bodies. You just want to make sure you are eating natural peanut butter because regular peanut butter is full of trans and saturated fat(bad for the heart.) Read the label, it should just have peanuts and salt in the ingredients. Bananas are also a very sugar dense fruit, so adding them to peanut butter will increase the total calories eaten while getting some important nutrients at the same time.

I have heard that this is true as the body has to work hard to digest it - but since you can't really eat a lot of it, well I certainly couldn't, it wont miraculously or radically adjust your metabolic rate. However it is also a good remedy for the 'snack attack' since it's high in protein and just a small spoonful will usually satisfy a food craving. Make sure you get the organic, no added sugar type and you'll be adding good fat and magnesium, vitamin E, folate etc. It's about 100 calories per tablespoon though so don't go crazy with it. Banana, peanut butter and rice cake is about the best on-the-go breakfast there is :-)

It's always a balance between what, and how much you eat. There's nothing wrong with peanut butter and jelly as such, as long as you limit the amount.

If what you eat(whatever it is) has more energy in it that what you spend over the day, then you will eventually get fat.

Both PB and jelly have a lot of energy in it, so it doesn't take a lot to be too much.

There is not one food that helps you to lose weight by itself. It is how it is used in the rest of your overall diet. An overall healthy diet is what is recommended if trying to lose or maintain weight. But I can tell how peanut butter can help you lose weight or cause you to gain weight. First if you eat peanut butter in moderation it can help with weight loss by helping you feel full longer. If you use peanut butter as a filler it can help tie you over to your next meal. By feeling full longer will help you to not over eat. If you are eating other sources of fat I would not recommend more than 1 tablespoon of peanut butter in a day, even though a serving size is 2 tablespoons which is around 188 calories. It has around 8 grams of protein per serving however it does have high content of fat as well. Around 16grams of fat per serving. But it does have more of what is referred to as "good fat" verses "bad fat". Saturated fat is the bad fat and Unsaturated is the good fat. So it is a good habit to look at the labels of all food to see if the fat content is more saturated or unsaturated.

On the flip side, the way people can gain weight easily on peanut butter is consuming way more than the 2 tablespoons. If you are not measuring your servings it is very easy to overeat peanut butter. Another way you can gain weight by eating peanut butter is if you are going to consume it daily and do not cut back on other fatty foods it will pack on the pounds.

So to recap, having a balanced diet between carbohydrates, protein and fat is the best way incorporate peanut butter into your diet.
