Xbox Live Gold Membership and Microsoft Points are two separate things altogether. The 1600 points you are refering to are Microsoft Points, used to buy Add-ons, Xbox Live Arcade Games, Premium Themes and the like. This is completely independent of the Xbox Live Gold Membership, which deals with Online Play. In order to utilize Xbox Live Gold Membership, you must either buy a pre-paid card which states the amount of time you are buying, or initiate a pay plan with a credit/debit card. In short, assuming you are looking for Online Play, the 1600 points you purchased are useless
You buy them buy logging into X-Box Live and browsing through the downloads for Fable 2, and then buying them with Microsoft points. You get the points by purchasing them with a credit card. You can make the purchase on you X-Box 360 console.
Go to a store, and get a Microsoft points card, then scratch off the grey in the back, and go to the Xbox Live (R) market place, and select anything (product) and when it tells you how many Microsoft points you need, ( Ex: 250 Microsoft points, Current balance: 0) then press X to enter Microsoft points. This can also be done on the Xbox it self, but it takes a credit card. Good Luck! HotKookies
Microsoft Points (MSPs or MSPoints) are the currency of the Xbox Live Marketplace, Games for Windows - Live Marketplace, Windows Live Gallery, and Zune online stores. The points allow users to purchase content without a credit card and to reduce the number of small credit card transaction fees, which Microsoft would otherwise pay. Some downloads on the Xbox Live Marketplace are free, but most other downloads, such as full versions of arcade games and downloadable content for some games, cost Microsoft Points. The most common amounts of Microsoft Points that you can purchase or redeem are 400, 800,1600, and 4000MSPs.
