Sound travels faster in a medium that that has no or less interference. In other words we can say that it will travel faster in solid practically thinking that sound is echoced by the solid objects better than the liquid medium and as a result the sound waves travel with faster velocity and travel greater distance.

The speed of sound through any meduim is determined by the density of the medium. Sound travels via compression waves. The denser the matter the further and faster sound will travel. Sound travels roughly 4.3 times faster in water than it does in air. This is why there is no sound in space, there is no medium to travel through, due to spaces nearly absolute vacuum.

liquid because there is more room for sound to move. In a solid, particles are packed so tightly together all they can do is vibrate. In a liquid, they are free to move so sound is able to pass between the particles

Sound waves travel faster through liquids than through gases because of the higher density of molecules in liquid.

Which medium does sound travel fastest in?

Sound travels faster in solids than it does in liquids. thus, sound travels faster in liquids than it does in solids

What waves travel faster through liquids and solids?

Sound waves, being longitudinal in nature, travels faster in liquids and solids.

Can a sound be faster than a other sound?

yes, sound travels faster in liquids and solids than in gases e.g. faster in water than through air. The denser the solid, the faster the sound travels.

What material does sound travel through the fastest?

There are too many 'materials' to list but generally, sound travels faster in solids than in liquids, and faster in liquids than in gases. In other words, the denser the material, the faster sound travels.

Does the sound travel through a soild?

Yes, sound actually travels faster through solids then liquids or gases.

Does sound travel slower through air solids or liquids?

Sounds travels slowest in air and fastest in solids. Generally, sound travels faster through materials of higher densities.

What state of matter transmits sound fastest?

Sound travels further and faster in the more dense states of matter. Solids transmit sound faster than liquids or gases.

Why does sound travel slower through liquids?

It doesn't, sound travels slowest in air then faster in liquids then solids. Sound traveling through steel in many times faster then through air, for example. Sound travels through vibrations, and the vibrations pass through molecules until they reach your ear. If the molecules are far away it takes longer to pass the vibrations, but if they are closer together they will travel faster. Because the molecules are packed closer together in a liquid the sound travels faster through it, and even faster through solids.

Does sound travel fastest in metal?

sound travels faster in solids. sound travels faster in metals like steel

Does Sound travels faster through liquids and solids?

Sound travels 5 times fast under water then in the air and even faster through solids. For example speed of sound in: Air = 330 m/s Water = 1500 m/s Steel = 6000 m/s

Does sound travel faster through water than air?

yeah sound travels fastest through solids , than that through liquids and slowest in air and does not travel through Vaccum
