Today marks a special moment in the history of the world as we celebrate 20 years since the collapse of the Berlin Wall.
Communism aside, the fall of the Berlin wall was chosen to be represented for posterity as a symbol of liberty, freedom and togetherness.
Its memory remains one of the most potent symbols of division amongst the people of the world and its destruction one of the most potent symbols of our collective power to change and commit our resolve for a better future.
When it came down, the people communicated the message that what we want is freedom, without barriers and divisions. We want the opportunity to grow and prosper.
East or West, we're all entitled. So while we celebrate the collapse of the wall, take a moment to remember why it was there in the first place and if, internally, we still dwell around its two sides.
Yes, the Berlin Wall can still exist in our minds. Barriers, divisions, animosity, fear, mistrust, misunderstanding and countless other visions that manifest themselves in the Wall can still be a part of our lives. Ask yourself, do we still live behind the wall? If so, then the good thing is we have the hammer.
It doesn't have to take 26 years, an ex-movie star turned politician and a free thinking Soviet to break this wall down.
All it takes is us.
