What types of processors does the board support?

It depends on what kind of motherboard you're talking about. For example, Asus is a motherboard manufacturer which offers both AMD as well as Intel motherboards. All other motherboard manufacturers usually offer both Intel & AMD.

What is quard core?

A quad core is one component (computer chip) consisting of multiple cores (computer processors). Processors were originally developed only using one core. If you wanted to do multiprocessing you needed to have two processors in your computer which meant having a special motherboard that could support multiple processors. The new processors (referred to as Multi-Core processors) are simply a single chip with two or more processors.

I Have a Emachines w5243 and i had a AMD Athlon CPU i got a new Phenom 2 CPU and i hooked it up and when i turn on the computer the blue power light wont come on and no signal what do i do?

That motherboard doesnt support newer processors like the phenom 2 if u look your motherboard up it will tell you what processors are compatible with it. this model emachines computer is a lower end computer built with cheap parts so it can be sold for cheap. chances are your motherboard only accepts athlon processors or earlier.
