God punished her for being so mean to Snow White. First, He trapped her on a cliff. Second, He made sure she could not crush the seven dwarfs with a boulder by striking the cliff with lightning. Finally, he made her careless by making her try to use that long stick as a broomstick, but she would have been crushed by the same boulder she used to try to crush the seven dwarfs. There were also jagged rocks at the bottom of the deep, "bottomless" canyon, so that boulder crushed her against the rocks.

She didn't die. She got poisoned by the apple and fell in a deep sleep. The prince kissed her and she woke up. So it's actually like she fainted.
