Depending on the breed of Spider monkey, if they remain still, their fur can look like a branch or the shadow of a branch.

I'm not sure how much they rely on camouflage, but they do hide in trees and try to blend in if they have had bad experiences with humans. Other times, they will come out and start throwing things at humans that get too close.

Monkeys can sometimes camouflage themselves in the tops of trees. They are great climbers, so they stay high in the trees to hide from predators.

How do howler monkeys get away from preditors?

Howler monkeys live high in the tree canopy, where there are few predators. However, they don't jump from branch to branch like most monkeys, instead they climb branch to branch. Therefor, I don't believe that howler monkeys can easily escape their predators. One of the predators of the howler monkeys are Harpy eagles, against which howler monkeys have no defense except to hide.
