The pulmonary arteries carry deoxygenated (O2-poor) blood from the heart to the lungs so the blood can be oxygenated. Remember that arteries and veins are not defined based on whether they carry O2-rich or O2-poor blood but rather the direction they carry blood. Arteries carry blood away from the heart and veins carry blood back to the heart.

the artries always carry O2 rich blood but the exception to this rule is pulmonary artery which carries o2 poor blood.
pulmonary artery carries O deficit blood to the lungs it is exception to artries which always carry O rich blood to organs of body.

Pulmonary artery carry deoxygenated (O poor blood) blood from the heart to the lungs. They are the only arteries that carry deoxygenated blood and hence the exception to artries which carry oxygenated blood to organs of body.

The pulmonary arteries transport deoxygenated blood to the left and right lungs. And interesting fact is that the pulmonary arteries are the only arteries that carry deoxygenated blood. All other arteries deliver blood, enriched with oxygen and other nutrients to our body's tissues. Conversely, the pulmonary veins transport oxygenated blood from the left and right lungs to the heart, while all other veins carry deoxygenated blood and waste products

The Pulmonary Artery carries oxygen-poor blood. All arteries carry blood away from the heart, which most of the time means oxygen-rich blood that is being sent to body tissues. However, in this case blood is being carried away from the heart and towards the lungs in order to be 're-oxygenated'. Oxygen-rich blood is then sent back to the heart via the pulmonary veins. This blood is then pumped trough the left side of the heart and out to the body via the Aorta.

For the most part arteries carry oxygen-rich blood. Two notable exceptions to this "rule" are the pulmonary arteries and the umbilical arteries. Each of those carry oxygen-poor blood.

What does a pulmonary artery carry that a pulmonary vein doesn't?

The pulmonary artery carries oxygen-poor blood. The pulmonary vein carries oxygen-rich blood.

Where does an artery carry oxygen poor blood?

The pulmonary artery carries oxygen poor blood and the pulmonary vein carries oxygen rich blood.

What blood does the pulmonary artery carry?

The pulmonary artery carries blood away from the heart and it is low in oxygen.

Does the pulmonary artery in adults carry 02-rich or 02-poor blood?

The pulmonary artery carries oxygen deficient blood. Blood that returns to the heart passes through the right atrium and ventricle, through the pulmonary artery, to the lungs where gas exchange occurs. Subsequently, oxygen rich blood returns to the heart via the pulmonary vein. Blood then passes through the left atrium and ventricle, and out to the systemic circulation.

What is the only artery carrying blood rich in oxygen?

Pulmonary artery is the only artery that carries non-oxygenated blood. Conversely, the pulmonary vein is the only vein that carries oxygenated blood.

Does the pulmonary artery contains oxygenated blood?

The pulmonary artery contains deoxygenated blood. It is going to the lungs to pick up oxygen.
