Franklin was appointed by the Continental Congress as an Ambassador to France. Where he spent most of the War lobbying the French government for funds and aide for the American forces. Prior to France he was in England attempting to secure rights and freedoms for the American colonists.

In 1776 Franklin was sent by the colonies to France.

The French adored him and in 1778 he secured a military alliance with the French that ultimately helped the Americans win the revolution.

He also helped negotiate the Treaty of Paris, which ended the revolution.
