It is the principal that has all of the electrons in the lowest possible energy levels.

Lowest energy to highest energy:

1S, 2S, 2P, 3S, 3P, 4S, 3D, 4P...

or in other words we can say , "According to Aufbau's principal the electrons enter in an ascending order of energy levels ."

There is also a Little trick to remember whole order of electron configuration according to aufbau's law - remember this thing - 1,22,33,43,45,45,64,567,567

ok now all u have to do is just put S P D and F . put S with a number if the number is coming for the very first time . if the number comes second time put P and if number comes third time put D and if fourth time then put F .and then put the maximum electrons possible to fill in a particular sub shell S=2 P=6 D=10 F=14 now u will have something look like this :

1s2 , 2s2 2p6 ,3s2 3p6 , 4s2 3d10 ,4p6 5s2, 4d10 5p6 ,6s2 4f14 ,5d10 6p6 7s2 , 5f14 6d10 7p6 . which is aufbau's law :)

The Aufbau Principle states that electrons of opposite spin are placed in orbitals (max 2 electrons per orbital), then arranged in levels according to the amount of energy they exert.

Ex: 1s,2s,2p,3s,3d

Aufbau Principle:

The order in which electrons fill the shells/orbitals/levels and sub-shells/O/L.

:D hi.

Ps.?

1s < 2s < 2p < 3s < 3p < 4s < 4p < 5s < 4d < 5p < 6s < 4f < 5d < 6p < 7s < 5f < 6d < 7p < ( 8s < 5g < 6f < 7d < 8p < 9s ). ---( Uuo ; Z = 118 )

The Aufbau principle states that electrons fill atomic orbitals starting at the lowest available energy levels before filling higher energy levels. Refer to the related link for a diagram showing the order in which atomic orbitals are filled.

Why is the Aufbau Principle also known as the build-up principle?

The principle was named by a German speaker who called it Aufbau. "Buildup" is the usual translation of Aufbauinto English.

Is each orbital has at most two electrons the aufbau principle?

This is usually called the "Pauli Exclusion Principle".

1920

Who stated that an electron occupies an orbital with the lowest energy level first before it will occupy a higher one?

If you are referring to the Aufbau Principle, than I believe it was the Danish physicist Niels Bohr who discovered it around 1920. However, instead of being named after a person, it came from the German phrase Aufbauprinzip which literally translates to "building-up principle."

What are two elements with ground-state electron configurations that are well-known exceptions to the Aufbau principle?

What is the tendency of electron to enter orbitals of lowest energy first?

Nature prefers low energy. It is thus energetically favorable to do so.

How do you deduce the number of unpaired electrons for the correct ground state configuration?

Add the electrons in accordance with the aufbau principle and then count the unpaired ones.
