Borrow, rent or buy a good quality OBD2 code scanner. The good ones let you clear the codes. Any codes that WON'T clear are usually caused by a failed component that needs to be replaced.

The first and cheepest thing to check is the fuses. located on the side of the dash by the passengers door, another is under the hood on top of the battery. The next would be lock switch. It is easily installed, no tools needed. The drivers side power switch is a master switch. This means that power feeds from the drivers lock switch to the passenger door. If your key fob will unlock and lock the doors but the switch will not I would replace the drivers door lock switch.
Your vehicle has a factory set 5 digit code that operates the keyless entry system. The factory-set code is located on the owner's wallet card in the glove compartment. If you are like me and bought the vehicle without the card in the glove box, you will find websites that will tell you to take it to the dealer and have them read the ECM. This was not necessary in my case, I have a 2002 Ford Excursion 4X4 7.3L Diesel. The ECM was located behind the radio up under the dash.( The ECM is the brainbox and is about 7"x 7" x 1" thick) . First, Move the drivers seat as far back as possible. Second, Lay on the floor with a good flashlight and mirror. I was able to see it in the mirror. Now you have to be able to read things backwards in a mirror. You may have to write the numbers down and try it backwards. This is the factory preset code. (5 digits). When you shut the drivers door and try this make SURE you have removed the keys from inside the vehicle! AGAIN, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE REMOVED THE KEYS FROM THE VEHICLE! Don't ask me why I am reitterating this! Next, enter the code and then push the 1/2 key. If this is the correct code you should see the door locks move. Whithin 5 seconds enter your code (5 digits) and you should see the locks move again. BINGO! I AM SO GLAD THAT WORKED!
I am currently wondering the same thing.
This is the best answer I have found so far, so it doesn't look like it...

An eddy is water that flows opposite from the normal flow of a river. When a river's water level rises, tributaries that point in the opposite direstion of the flow of the river will rise too. This water will flow upstream in the tributaries and fill them to the level of the river. In some regional areas, such as southern states of the US, an eddy is a part of a river that is set off from the river where the water has no flow at all unless the river is rising.
