Can you take lamictal and Paxil together?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes. Lamictal is a mood stabilizer and paxil is an ssri (anti-depressant). Lamactil is often prescribed with SSRI's to "boost" the effect and/or work on areas that the SSRI does not tap. Obviously, an MD/Psych is the best person to talk to about drug interactions, not the internet.

Does paxil work?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

do not take Paxil it causes major weight gain. It affects the Hypothalmus (if I spelled that right), so it will also affect your sex drive aka you will have none. I took it for a year and gained 30 pounds I was 120 and went up to 150. I was an athlete before and it made me tired and not care about things. I had no guilt. Lexapro is a better choice or take citalopram the generic. All cause drowsiness so take at night before you go to sleep. That will stop your anxiety attacks at night, nightmares, and over thinking. Been on it for over 6 years. With therapy, exercise, and a healthy environment it works well. Good Luck

Will Paxil 10mg cause a seizure in a 12 year old?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Quote from the Related Link: "A very small percentage of patients given Paxil in trials developed seizures." If your child has had a seizure, you need to call the child's doctor immediately and let them know. DO NOT suddenly take your child off of Paxil without a doctor's instructions. Your child's doctor may want to taper the dosage your child takes, meaning reduce it gradually, then take the child off of Paxil completely. Suddently stopping it without a doctor's advice to do so can result in serious withdrawal symptoms. See the Related Link entitled "Quitpaxil: paxil withdrawal symptons" for a list of the withdrawal symptoms.

Can Paxil cause birth defects?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

My daughter was born with multiple holes in her heart, multiple spleen, two left sides of the heart, and a condition called T.A.P.V.R. My husband has been on Paxil and other anti-depressants. I have recentley just read and article on another father taking Paxil and his daughters heart defects. Also there were 2 comments below of other fathers taking this same drug and holes in their childrens hearts. There is definately a connection. Someone has got to research this and get to the bottom of it.

How long will side effects last after stopping Paxil?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

This type of drug (SSRI)- Seroxat /Paxil, can can actually alter your perceptions of the side effects (if any) that you actually get (making close medical supervision necessary). It will leave your system over a period of weeks (there is also a withdrawal risk).

However in several recorded cases where minor side effects have been experienced - Tinnitus, rashes, tightness of breath and erection issues - as occasional symptoms whilst taking med, then most (75%) reported clear within 10 - 25 days.

User Avatar

Yes, you can take them together. My doctor has me on both at the same time, but not to get high! Your doctor will probably keep you on a small dosage of klonopin while you are on suboxone, but you CAN take them at the same time.

You are taking 50 mg of ptu and and 3 mg of mirapex can you also take Paxil?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Both these drugs are central nervous system depressants and the use of these two drugs should be monitored when taken together. It is also important to recognize that the risk of unwanted effects may increase with use. Some possible side effects may include, ataxia, confusion, drowsiness, respiratory depression, and weakness. The benefits of the combined use of these two medications usually outweigh the risks. Timing and dosage play a factor in the interaction of the two. You should talk to your doctor if you have any concerns.

Sure you can, i must warn you that codeine is highly addictive. But combining the two shouldn't be a problem. I did it for years. Taken orally that is, codeine should not be injected as it caused resparitory depression and can send you into a coma. Just play it safe.

I have not tried Paxil but I know from experience with Lexapro, is that it works very well. Trying to come off of it is the challenge. I got extreme dizziness and nausea. Although, that lasted a few weeks then it surpassed and I'm back to normal. Lexapro worked great for me and I strongly recomment it.

Can you take Paxil and provigil together?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It would not be recommended to take these drugs together. Both drugs belong to a group of anti-depressants known as SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors), so they work in a very similar way. Taking both together can increase your chances for harmful side effects. Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any further questions about using these medications together in your specific scenario.
