An Irish wolfhound is from IRELAND and a Russian Wolfhound is from RUSSIA!
and also a Irish wolf hound would kill the wolfs of old and some of present and the Russian usually held them at bay
The Average height for an Irish Wolfhound is 30in. in female and 32in. in males.
An Irish Wolfhound can be 28-35in.
I think they measure the breed up to its shoulder, so I'm not sure if it is 30in. in total or 30in. to the shoulder
The earlier the better, so they can be spayed when they are 6 months old.
As for any breed, it depends on numerous factors. The first criteria in determining cost, is quality of the dog. Are you purchasing a pet or show quality dog? The dog's heritage and number of champions in it's bloodline will be a factor. The kennel from which the dog was born will also be a contributing factor.
You can expect to pay no less than $500 for a pet quality and $1,000 and more for a show quality. Another option is to adopt and pay the adoption fee which is usually no more than $300.
As with any purchase of a dog, the primary feature to look for is personality. The personality of Borzois are generally very pleasant, though breeding from Kennel to Kennel can vary.
Some can reach speeds nearly up to 40 m.p.h. - but mainly around 30-35 m.p.h.
Russian Wolfhound,Russkaya Psovaya, Borzaya, and Psovoi.
Absolutely. Borzoi are independent thinkers and can be stubborn if they don't see the point in being asked to perform certain behaviors.. There is a difference between trainability (as in the almost mindless obedience of some of the "smart breeds") and intelligence. Borzoi can be successfully trained, but require some creative methods as they bore easily with endless repetition.
Borzoi were bred to course game in Russian - mainly wolves, fox, and rabbits.
Generally speaking, the Borzoi is a fairly quiet dog breed. This will vary depending on the dog and the bloodline the dog comes from, but still they will rarely bark without a reason(such as someone knocking on the door).
No, they are not ideal for apartment life. While they are very mild-mannered and like to sleep a lot, they are very large dogs that need significant daily exercise and preferably a good, fenced-in place to run.
Price of a show prospect or show quality Borzoi will depend on several factors, including the breeder, the sex of the animal, and the quality of the animal, but generally you can expect to pay anywhere from $1000-$2000, assuming you are located in the U.S.
The borzoi originated in Russia. In 1650 the first borzoi standard was written.
Borzoi can come in a range of different coat lengths and texture: really thick long hair that is curly or shorter hair that is straight and silky and many others, but whatever coat type you get, the borzoi needs daily brushing. Not with a furminator (sp?) as it seems to tear their outer coat out. A normal, soft pronged brush will do the job.
A bath once every other month should keep them less smelly and clean. Though, they aren't a BIG stinky breed.
Basically, just make sure you brush them daily or once every two days so they don't get tangly.
you can ask any of ur local vets soft dog food makes their teeth bad hard dog food will losen and breakaway plaque from their teeth use hard dog food
Borzoi thrive on human companionship, are sensitive to some weather conditions, their long coat tends to catch badly on outdoor plants and things, and they can be expert escape artists. They will also do almost anything possible to get out of your yard if they see something they think is prey(squirrels, cats, small dogs, etc). Generally speaking, no, they do not make good outdoor dogs and should be kept safely indoors with their family.
