How do you unlock the steering wheel?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

hopefully your not stealing the vehicle. but you will have to remove the steering wheel and then remove the key switch itself, purchase a new key switch and replace. However if its only to move the vehicle, after you remove the key switch you can take a screw driver and turn the mechanism in the column to unlock.

Where does the speedometer cable hook up to on a 96 Ford Taurus?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There might not be a cable. Some have an electronic pickup for the speedo, so what you will be looking for is a device with a couple of wires coming from, around the same place the speedo would normally hook up- the left side of the adapter housing for the transfer case.

How to replace an alternator in a 1997 Honda civic?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

you must lift up the civic with the driver side tire off then u gotta get the axle loose u might need to remove the whole left side suspention to free up the axle then u gotta get the alternator loose and remove it and then reverse.

/ The alternator can be removed by lifting front of car and driver side suspention lowered so that tire is just touching, then the alternator will have clearance to slide by driver side axle from under vehicle without removing any suspention. My son and I just did this so it should work on yours. (Aug 21, 2008)

Which is the best Honda Civic hatchback?

It depends on what you're going for. The SI edition is considered Sport Injected. Generally it will have a slightly larger engine. My 1995 Civic Si has a 1.6 cubic liter engine with VTEC, along with four wheel disc breaks. The amenities are sometimes dealer options, my car does not have AC but some civic SIs do come with it. SIs should have tilt wheels, drivers and passengers side mirrors, etc. You can generally compare the differences at www.kbb.com

NO!! The Mazda engine and ford engine are totally different period.Mazda was still strickly Mazda until 1993. It was not until 1994 when Mazda and ford became the same on engine and tranmission similarities. You need a Mazda engine for your Mazda transmission.Note the 1986-1993 Mazda bseries trucks are all Mazda manufactured.Ford is not interchangeable with these models period.

What causes squealing noise coming from right wheel when driving over 30 mph and then grinding upon braking a 1999 Sentra?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

That will be something to do with your brakes on that wheel. You may have a stone wedged between the pad and the disc, or your pads are completely worn. Take the car to a brake specialist. If you are confident in removing the wheel safely, inspect the brake assembly once the wheel is removed. You should see a smooth disc and a pad/caliper assembly 'clamped' around the disc, like a hand holding a frizbee. Inspect the pad for anything obviously wrong.

How do you remove the rear brake drums on a 2000 Ford ZX2?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

With a hammer, not a joking. hit it on the back side of the top out, but please take the tire off first.

Better solution:

First take off the two screws. These are the countersunk holes with Phillips head screw. These screws are holding the drum.

The brake drum has one or two threaded holes. These are not the countersunk holes with Phillips head screw that hold the drum to the wheel flange but are in the other one or two spaces between the lug bolt holes. On my ZX2, these holes are threaded for a 1/4 inch bolt (1/2 inch wrench), 16 threads per inch. Thread a bolt at least one inch long into each hole and tighten the bolt. If your car has only one hole as does mine, tighten the bolt to apply pressure to one side of the drum, then use a pry bar to ease the other side of the drum off. The lug nut wrench with the jack makes a good pry bar for this.

Why doesn't the fan motor in your Saturn work?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Answeryou can test it with a jumper wire to to see if it works by direct power. If not the fan motor has gone bad as they sometimes do. I just had that prob. with mine had to replace the fan motor. if it does work by jumping it then ya might have a bad fuse, temp. sensor or PCM problem. AnswerYou might also have a bad temperature sensor.

You might also have a bad switch. Temp sensor should be o.k. if the engine temp. goes and stays at normal and the upper and lower heater hoses are hot.
