Try shooting it with oven cleaner and let it sit for a while. I'm not sure, but I don't think it will hurt the non-stick surface. Check for warnings. If your popcorn maker is aluminum, make sure your oven cleaner is safe for use on aluminum.
A cheap popcorn machine is a counter top hot air popper, those can go for 30-40$ on line or in accessories shops. If you prefer a big popcorn popper, you might want to save a little more, because those aren't cheap, in fact, they usually sell for around 200$ and more.
YES! Incredibly, our corn popped to a larger volume, overflowing the bowl. We surmise that the addition of sugar may have increased the temperature and/or moisture just enough to pop more kernels. Our pop rate diminished somewhat as our 45 oz size Orville Reddenbacher jar was emptied. However, we popped the last 7/8 cup of corn with 1/3 cup sugar with such success that popped corn lifted the bowl 4-5 inches above the plate. The sugar caramelized every so lightly and left most of the popped corn molded into a bowl shape after it was inverted and lifted. Our dog happily consumed what popped onto the counter and floor (pre-salted). Much to our delight the sugar coating was quite even throughout the bowl, creating a few little popcorn ball clusters here and there. Careful with the salt--a lighter dusting will suffice as none is likely to be sifted into the bottom. Note: Best to stick to white granulated--brown sugar (approx. 1/2 c packed) made a thick caramel that prevented corn from popping. Better than Street Festival Kettle Corn 3/4 c. popping corn, 1/2 c. granulated sugar, 2-3 T. oil

HOW MUCH OIL FOR MY POPPER?Using a popcorn popper for the first time can be a learning experience. With this in mind, we've received numerous questions from customer on how much oil to use in a popper. Here's a guide that will help you.
*2oz Popcorn Machine = Use 2 ounces (1/4 CUP) kernels + 1/2 ounce (1 Tablespoon) Oil
4oz Popcorn Machine = Use 4 ounces (1/2 CUP) kernels + 1 ounce (2 Tablespoons) Oil
6oz Popcorn Machine = Use 6 ounces (3/4 CUP) kernels + 2 ounce (4 Tablespoons) Oil
8oz Popcorn Machine = Use 8 ounces (1 CUP) kernels + 2 ounce (4 Tablespoons) Oil
12oz Popcorn Machine = Use 12 ounces (1-1/2 CUP) kernels + 3 ounce (6 Tablespoons) Oil
16oz Popcorn Machine = Use 16 ounces (2 CUP) kernels + 4 ounce (8 Tablespoons) Oil
*The size you need is entirely dependent upon the amount of people you feed on a regular basis. Remember that the "ounce amount" relates directly to how many ounces of popcorn can be produced in one batch. For small families or small groups of guests, the four-ounce popper may be perfect for you. If you entertain large groups, or have a big family, you may want to buy the six- or eight-ounce popper to avoid making multiple batches all the time. Just keep in mind that even if you have a larger popper, you can make smaller batches on occasion with smaller amounts of corn, oil and salt..
Stove top popcorn poppers come in two types. Single-use poppers can be purchased at most grocery stores. Mutli-use poppers are available at Target, Walmart, and similar larger retailers both online and in store.

table use.
Preparing Popcorn
There are two models of the Stir Crazy → Corn Popper, one for making up to 6-quarts
and the second for making up to 8 -quarts of popcorn. Listed below are the proper
amounts of oil, corn and butter (or margarine) to use for making various amounts of
popcorn. Do not attempt to make 8 quarts of popcorn in the 6-quart model.
Quarts of Popcorn..........Amount of Oil..........Amount of Corn........Amount of Butter
..........2 ......................1 Tablespoon ................⅓ Cup ................1 Tablespoon
..........4 ......................2 Tablespoons ...............⅔ Cup ................2 Tablespoons
..........6 ......................3 Tablespoons ...............1 Cup ................3 Tablespoons
.......... 8 ......................3 Tablespoons ...............1¼ Cups ............3 Tablespoons
**NOTE: If using a gourmet/premium grade of corn, use less than amount of corn specified above. To yield 2 quarts of popcorn, use ¼ cup corn; for 4 quarts of popcorn, use ½ cup; for 6 quarts of popcorn, use ¾ cup; for 8 quarts of popcorn, use 1 cup. Use the
same amounts of oil and butter specified above. **For 8 -quart model only.
1. Put proper amount of vegetable oil and corn into popper base. Do not add more
corn or oil than recommended. Spread corn evenly over popping surface. Do not
substitute butter, margarine, shortening, or lard for vegetable oil as these will
burn or smoke excessively.
2. Place cover on popper base making sure handles of cover fit into handles of
popper base. If buttered corn is desired, divide recommended amount of
refrigerated butter into 6 equal-sized pats and place in a single layer over butter
holes in butter well. (If unrefrigerated butter is used, add to butter well after the
first kernel of corn pops.) Popcorn will be buttered as it pops. Do not place
plastic cap on butter well until after corn is popped. If unbuttered corn is desired,
do not add butter to the butter well and do not place cap onto butter well until
after corn is popped.
3. Insert cord into popper base. Plug cord into a 120 volt
AC outlet only. The stirring rod will rotate as long as the
corn popper is plugged in. Do not shake popper during
popping cycle. In 4 to 6 minutes (depending on quantity
of corn being popped) the popping cycle will be
completed. Unplug cord from wall outlet. Use a hot pad
to remove cord from popper base.
4. If butter is not completely melted in butter well, use a pastry brush to push any
remaining butter through the buttering holes.
5. Snap plastic cap securely onto butter well. This cap must be on cover before
popper is inverted. Make sure handles of popper cover are placed into handles
of popper base. Grasp handles firmly and turn popper upside down, turning
popper away from you. Lift popper base away from cover, being careful of
escaping steam.
6. Popcorn is now ready for serving. Sprinkle popcorn with salt if desired.
