What is a divan bed?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

an Armless Couch that converts into a bed

New Answer

We would call a divan a bed where you buy the base and mattress together. The base is generally speaking an upolstered 'box' that can have either a platform top (solid) or sprung edge (a spring system built in to the base which gives a softer feel and can act as an extra shock absorber for your mattress). The base will usually have storage options of drwaers in it. The mattress that you buy with it will match the base in terms of fabric and look - a divan set. A divan bed can be made with any kind of mattress, such as memory foam, latex, pocket sprung, traditional sprung or combinations there of.
