The lead male character- a former Naval officer ( and this is not mentioned directly- a specially trained submarine officer at that) is recalled for active duty by the Kriegmarine. An interesting anti-war tack rarely observed in allied ( US or allied nations) war movies. War as a family- disruptor is rarely used as an anti-war plot device, this is one exception- okay it is on the enemy side.
