How fast does a cane corso run?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It depends on what you mean by fast because I run 40 yards in 4.38 seconds. Im doubting that there is an exact speed for it. Its not a super fast dog. Ive been chased by many dogs.... German shepherds, pitbulls, a doberman, presa canario, and a cane corso. The German shepherds were the fastest 2 of them almost caught me and one of them passed me up but hes huge! He is 29inches to the shoulder and 113lbs and if you don't believe me then click that! That's my proof about his size http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6U18DG1LVXE but the pitbulls werent as fast as you would think.... But the cane corso isn't fast unless the thing that its chasing is in a enclosed area with it.... because it can only avoid it for a certain amount of time.

What is stronger a cane corso or presa canario?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The Cane Corso is a large Italian molosser. It has an athletic build and a solid, compact body with free-flowing movement. It could weight up to 160 pounds. Compare it to a 50 pound pitbull.

Any ways I have seen corsos from the PR corso association which can't pull carts with the weight that pitbulls pull. No everything comes from strenght but with the not quit attitude.

Which will win a fight cane corso or rottweiler?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No. A cane corso is much bigger, stronger, heavier, and smarter than a rottweiler when cane corsos have better strengths in fighting. Because an attacking cane corso can do so much damage in killing than an attacking rottweiler, it is most likely that the rottweiler will get terribly hurt.

The husky might beat the cane corso due to its thick fur and muscles. Since the husky has thick fur and muscles to protect it from injuries, the husky will defeat the cane corso. The cane corso is more likely to get more injuries since it has not much fur for protection.

What is the life expectancy of a cane corso rottweiler mix?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It's probably around eight to ten years. Because both are large breeds that tends to mean a shorter life expectancy, however in many cases, many mixed breed dogs tend to live longer and have less health problems than purebred dogs. It would be wise to look at the dogs parents and gauge their health. Ask about hip or knee issues in the parents. If you want to increase the longevity of a big dog, make sure they stay at a healthy weight to ease already stressed joints, make sure to elevate their food and water bowls and to give a couple smaller meals rather than one large meal in order to prevent bloat, and take care of their teeth! It's surprising how big an affect bad teeth have on a dog.

How much cane corso dog does cost?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I recently bought a Cane Corso, so I know. Honestly it really depends on which breeder you get it from. Most breeders charge about $1000-$2000, if you get it from a decent breeder. Usually male Cane Corso cost more money than female.

I would get the Cane Corso if you want a high energy dog, the workout requirements for the Corso are very high. You are looking at a 1.2 mile jog or a 1.7 mile walk a day. Also the breed is a tiny bit on the aggressive side, but would be great with a owner who has had big dogs before.

I have had an English Mastiff for two and a half years. The breeding for an English Mastiff is very hard since they weigh 200 pounds. So for that it would cost $1800-$2200. It is well worth the price. They are very low energy and sleep 18-20 hours a day. Be warned though you are looking at a gallon or two of slobber per day. They are a very cuddly breed though you can hug and squeeze them all you want. They are very tolerant and are great with little kids. They prefer climate of 58 degrees F and 74 degrees F.

The workout requirement is low, maybe a mile walk every four days. They get fat easily.

How big does a cane Corso mastiff get?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The Cane Corso grows up to 301 lbs. I have one myself. I am not sure how big a mini Corso grows to. Answer - The Cane Corso should be NO MORE THAN 115LBS (100lbs for females)!! The top answerer has an obese dog or doesn't have a Corso at all. Maximum height for males is 27 inches and females 25. Cane Corso are supposed to be big but robust, quick, and athletic. They are not really mastiffs that sit around like the English Mastiff. P.S. There is no such thing as a "mini Corso". Answer - I agree that a Cane Corso male weighs-in between 100 - 150 lbs, with 150 being a very large male. Normally a solid male weighs 115 - 125. 301 Lbs for a Corso is extreme and I think that it would be safe to say that the dog is morbidly obese. There are very few dogs that can weigh 300 Lbs in healthy condition. I think that maybe a Newfoundland might be able to carry that weigh but it would be well outside the norm.

What is the difference between a cane corso and a bull mastiff?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

While I'm no authority on either breed, I have become somewhat familiar with each. My son just purchased a 2 yr old South African Boerboel and I am currently seeking a Cane Corso. The Boerboel is also known as a South African Mastiff while the Corso is an Italian mastiff. Both breeds are large dogs with the Boerboel being the larger of the two. Both are reputed as being excellent guards, and loyal family pets for those who are dominant enough to establish themselves as the pack leader. I am heeding the advice offered by many on the intrenet, carefully researching as much information as I can, and visiting as many breeders possible. These dogs must be of the best temperment for they are a very powerful breed. I have raised several Rottwielers but typically both the Boerboel and the Cane Corso physically dwarf the Rottie. If you are not accustom to handling large dog breeds it is advised that you start with another breed. If you are insistant on starting with either of these two breeds then I would highly recommend that you start with a puppy that is submissive. Unless you intend to use the dog for what it was breed to do (WORK), a submissive speciment should serve you well since their physical presence is more than enough to deter any suspicious callers. I hope that this helps and good luck however you decide!

Can a cane corso fight off a bullmastiff?

User Avatar

Asked by Officercase

A cane corso is not a match for a Bullmastiff. The Bullmastiff is much more powerful. Many make this same mistake comparing the two. Not many do breeds in fact are truly a match for a Bullmastiff. The people who think that way do not understand the true purpose of the Bullmastiff, they lack education.

Who would win in a fight a cane corso or a pressa canario?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Not to condone fighting but unless a corso is sick or injured a boxer will never beat a corso. I have both and even playing, my corso knocks my boxer around like a toy. Jaw strength on the corso is 3x greater. But the Boxer is a fantastic breed.

However door to door sales people are more intimidated by my boxer. The black mask I guess.

Can a cane corso beat a pit bull in a fight?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

As history teaches the APBT was bred just for the purpose of fighting and is considered the apex fighting breed. The Cane Corso is more of a guard dog. If it came down to a fight between the two, if the game-bred APBT could survive the first ten minutes of the more powerful Corso, it would most definitely win as they're bred to fight for hours on end while the Corso would inevitably give out fairly quickly due to its heavy body and lack of tenacity when compared to the smaller terrier.

I would give the APBT a 75% chance at being the victor.

No I'm not in to dog fighting but am familiar with both breeds.

Cane Corso dog breed?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The Cane Corso is a catch dog used with cattle and swine, and also in wild boar hunts. It is also used by night watchmen, keepers, and, in the past, by carters as adrover. In the more distant past this breed was common all over Italy as an ample iconography and historiography testify. In the recent past, its distribution was limited to some districts of Southern Italy, especially in Puglia, Molise, Calabria, and Sicily.

Its name derives from "cane da corso" which is an old term for those catch dogs used in rural activities (for cattle and swine; boar hunting) as distinct from "cane da camera" which indicates the catch dog kept as a bodyguard.

The breed was recovered from near extinction through the efforts of enthusiasts in the 1970s,[4] the Corso is now popular globally, as can be seen by recent celebrity ownership of Cane Corsi.

Since coming to the United States in 1987 the breed has gained popularity.[citation needed] It was recognized by the United Kennel Club on July 15, 2008 under the nameCane Corso Italiano,[5] and subsequently by the American Kennel Club in 2010 under the name Cane Corso.[6]
