Car Fuses and Wiring

Car fuses are installed to protect a car’s wiring. The car’s wiring distributes power from the battery to the different devices in the car. It also transmits analog and digital signals from switches and sensors.
It is under the hood, next to the battery.
The fuse you need to change is in the fuse box under the hood. It is in position number 32 and it is a 20 Amp fuse (yellow).

Under the hood on the drivers side is the engine wiring harness. Disconnect bolt from the center it has 1/4" head. Pull out both connectors together. Under the dash on the drivers side the fuse box has two screws , top left and lower right, which hold box to firewall.

You have a short to ground in the running lights circuit. It willtake some detective work to locate the problem. Visually inspectthe wiring harness leading from and up to the tail lights. If youhave a trailer plug socket, inspect the wiring and plug. Look fordamaged, pinched and bear wires.

With a ford you need the owners manual for that year to know. You can usually find one on ebay. Your ford dealer service dept can probably tell you also.

The person who said to read the owners manual, obviously has never replaced the 120 amp fuse. It is held in with a screw from the bottom of the fuse box. It would never mention something like this in the owners manual.

I would check for power elsewhere also, make sure your battery is connected, and if power is everywhere else, than check that your fuse is not blown, inside of your drivers door (thats where mine is located, 96 GMC jimmy), if that is still good, ask for more help.
