What are the New Zealand laws regarding gun use?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A good article on this topic appears on Answers.com, at http://www.answers.com/topic/gun-law?cat=travel (the source is Wikipedia). According to the piece, gun law is covered by the 1983 Arms Act and the 1992 Arms Regulations which require a person to obtain a firearms license for the right to use / own firearms. The weapons covered are sporting rifles, shotguns and ammunition. There's also a requisite test on 'safe and responsible firearms use, ownership, and storage'. Dealers & collectors+ ownership of semi-automatic guns require a special license.

What is the separation of powers in the US Constitution?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The Constitutional doctrine of separation of powersbetween the three branches--the executive, the legislative and the judicial--has evolved to preserve the coequality of the branches between the three, as envisaged in the U.S. Constitution. Essentially, the judicial branch interprets the laws, the legislative branches formulates the laws, and the executive branch executes and enforces the laws.

The doctrine of checks and balances embodies the Constitutional powers of one branch to "check" or offset as to the others in some systemic way, the powers of the other two branches, while separation of powers otherwise serves to "balance" the coequality of the three branches.

An example of a check accruing to the executive branch is the Presidential veto or the administrative rulemaking role of the executive branch. An example of a check accruing to the legislative branch is where a Presidential Executive Order must find its basis in Acts of Congress in order to be valid or the power to impeach and remove from office a President for misconduct constituted by "high crimes and misdemeanors". An example of a check accruing to the judicial branch is its power of judicial review to negate legislation that it deems unconstitutional, and the lifetime appointment, subject only to the legislative branch powers of impeachment and removal from office for misconduct, of federal judges.

Can a 14 year old girl in New Zealand get a proper job?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

some people say you can't but you can if you really search around (depending on what area in NZ you live in). I know that AMF Bowling which has two centres in Auckland and Christchurch hires 14 year olds and over, most pet shops also hire 14 year olds, or you could even try the movies their minimum age is usually around 14/15. You could also try random stores around your area for example a gourmet shop, i applied for one of those stores when i was 14 and got the job, or after school care programmes often need help, a friend of mine is 14 and she has a job there and gets paid $80 a week for only 4 1/2 hours a week, which is pretty good for a young teen. Hope this helps, since it breaks all the myths of 14 year olds not being able to get jobs in NZ, because you can :)

New zealand bone carving products legal to export?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The problem is if the bone carving is made of whale bone as there are international conventions on the transporting of whale products. Permits are needed for the export of whale bone carvings and requirements vary depending on things like the age of the carving and the source of the whale bone. It would be best to consult with the Department of Conservation if you are dealing with whalebone.

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

s159 crimes act- child becomes human being (and can be a victim of culpable homocide s160) once it has ' completely proceeded in living state from the body of its mother' (born)

--> there is law protecting the life of infants.

But infanticide in the legal world is used as a partial defence

s178 crimes act- where a WOMAN casues the death of her own child, under age 10, in a manner that amounts to culpable homicide(s160), and where at the time of the offence the balance of her mind wa disturbed, by reason of effects of childbirth, she is not fully liable under murder or manslaughter, but guilty of infanticide- which only has a max imprisonment term of 3 years
