Bubbling in swimming refers to exhaling air through your nose while under water. This takes place after you have taken a breath above water and then placed your face beneath the surface to continue swimming. It helps to regulate your breathing patterns under the water.

Aerodynamics is essentially how efficient something can move through the air. If an object is MORE aerodynamic, then it will travel with less resistance, and vice versa.

The same applies for water, if you try to push a large flat object through water, it will encounter resistance and be difficult to move. For example, the palm of your hand with the fingers closed.

Because each force has an equal opposite, you push the water with your hand and it pushes back, propelling you forward and the water backwards.

This is less efficient if you try it with your hand pointing sideways. Why? It is more aerodynamic that way.

Breaststroke:

o Non-simultaneous touch at each wall

o One hand touch on the wall

o Scissor or dolphin kick

o Asymmetrical arm movements

o Arm pull past hips

o Failure to surface during EACH stroke

o Failure of head to surface at the end of propulsion phase of second arm stroke on start

Butterfly:

o Non-simultaneous touch at walls

o One hand touch at walls

o Flutter kick

o Scissor kick

o Underwater arm recovery

It's easy to calculate how many laps to a mile. Just ask someone who's working there if the pool is 100 meters or 100 yards. One lap is always down and back. If the pool is in yards it's almost 9 laps, if its meters it's closer to 8 laps. Happy swimming!

There is the extension phase where you reach out as far as possible. Then the catch phase is next its where you initially catch the water then it leads right into the actual pull phase where the water is thrust behind you. which leads directly into the recovery phase of the stroke where the arm moves back to catch more water and start the cycle again.
