Why does your Mercedes car sound like a truck?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There could be a few reasons for this. It's possible that there is an issue with the exhaust system, such as a leak or a hole, causing the sound to be louder and more noticeable. It could also be due to a problem with the engine itself, such as misfiring cylinders or a worn-out exhaust system. It's best to have a mechanic inspect your car to determine the root cause of the unusual noise.

How do you get the Steering wheel to unlock on a 1994 500sl Mercedes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If the front wheels are cocked at an angle, or against an object, it may be difficult to get the steering lock to release when you turn the key. Wiggle the wheel in the direction necesssary to take up the pressure pushing against the internal plate. Sometimes you have to really move the wheel, while turning the key. Don't break the key, or you will have expensive repairs before you.

But it is possible for the ignition lock to fail in the locked position, and in that case you already have that expensive repair before you.

How many miles to Orlando Florida from Austin Texas?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I'm only 13 years old but I remember driving to Orlando for Disney World perfectly. It's around 1,159 miles when you take I-10 and Merge onto I-75 toward Tampa. We didn't stop at all in our trip exept for dining and bathroom breaks. On Google Maps it says that its a 17 hour trip but we took 21 hours. The trip was hard but here are some tips to make it worth while. * Be Prepared!!! * Bring small snacks to save money on the way. * Bring MP3 players, Portable DVD players, and Hanheld devices or Books to keep you busy. * Stay in a hotel @ night! Never drive sleep deprived! * Bring loose change for the toll roads in Florida. Have Fun!!! Airbender19.

How do you take off the hard top on a 1973 450 Mercedes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There are four locks for the removable hardtop. Two are located above each sun visor between the roof and the frame around the windshield. The other two are located on each side in the rear area near the front of each rear side glass. There is a special wrench that is used to turn these locks. Put the wrench into the slot and turn them counterclockwise about 1/4 of a turn. When all four are unlocked, the top lifts off -- best done by two people.

A screw driver can be used if you do not have the wrench. When putting the roof back on, turn the locks clockwise, making sure that the roof is securely fastened.

Where is the hydraulic pump on a 1995 Mercedes 500 sl that controls the convertible top?

User Avatar

Asked by Citruschef

take out the spare tire from the trunk.

you'll see a black raised cover...there are 3 10mm nuts holding it down...they are easy to take off

remove the black cover.

you'll be looking at the hydraulic pump and resorvoir.

I don't know why you need to access this pump.

On the center console, the covertible top switch...that big red one...does it flash or stay lit? Has the pump stopped responding? There's an automatic shut off that protects the pump from burning out. Are you leaking fluid from the system? If you have oil seeping down from around the visors, you will need to replace both of the servor units. There is also another hydraulic system for the rear part of the top's system, which is behind the boot section.

Also...the system's computer will need to be reset (clear the codes) at a dealer after you replace whatever is needed.

You can also access the top manually....there's a roof tool that you should have...check your owner's manual on how to perform this.

BTW....the dealer charges nearly $300.00 for each of those hydraulic servos....there is a guy in Missouri that rebuilds them for around $100.00 for 2.

What might cause oil leaking from the front of the hood on a Mercedes 500SL convertible?

Are you sure it's oil?

Most likely is engine coolant from the radiator. Next would be transmission fluid. Or it could be from the reservoir holding the windshield washer fluid. Oil from the front is unlikely.
