How to become a member on Facebook

1. Go to Facebook.com

2. Look on the home page. There should be a very big section that says "Sign up. It's free and always will be." Below this, there are various boxes regarding personal information, such as name and e-mail. Fill in these boxes.

3. Set up your privacy settings. Choose who can see things like your profile picture, photos, messages, and personal information. Facebook will guide you through this.

4. Enjoy facebook! there are hundreds of games and pages, and chances are, your friends have Facebook pages as well.

How to become friends with someone on Facebook

1. Type their name into the search bar, but do not click enter.

instead, click the little magnifying glass at the end of the search bar.

2. A page should come up that has several names on it. You can tell which of these is your friend by comparing names and profile pictures.

3.(If you have already found your friend, skip this step and move on to step #4). If you cannot find your friend, there is a button underneath all the search results that says, "See all results for _______". Click on this and more options will pop up.

4. Click on the person you think is your friend.

5. Your friend's page should pop up. At the very top, there is a button that says "Friend Request". Click on this button and a request will be sent to this person for confirmation. When and if they accept your request, you should get a message on your own profile.

Still can't find your friend?

Your friend may have his/her profile picture of something other than themselves. This may include a flower or a pet or something else. If you cannot recognize them, it is best to e-mail them or contact them asking which profile picture they have. It will be much easier to locate which person they are when you know their profile picture.

Accidentally friended the wrong person on Facebook?

Sometimes, you may accidentally send a friend request to someone you thought was your friend. In this case (Especially if you do not know the person you friend requested) it is best to un-friend them. By doing this, the person you un-friended will not appear on your friend list anymore. If you set your profile up so that only friends can see your page, the person you un-friended will not longer be able to. Here are the steps to un-friend someone:

1. Go to your profile on Facebook

2. There should be a button to the very left of your page that says, "Friends". Click on this.

3. Locate the person you accidentally friended on the list of your friends.

4. There will be an "X" to the very left of every person's name. After you have found the person you want to un-friend, click the "X".

5. A message may pop up that says, "Are you sure you want to un-friend this person?". If you are sure you want to do this, then click, "Confirm".

6. This person will instantaneously disappear from your friend list.

(NOTE: By un-friending someone, you do not need to request it. By clicking un-friend, they will instantly be un-friended, whether they like it or not. Also, when you have un-friended someone, it is still possible to friend them again, but in order to become friends again, you will need to send a request, as shown above.)
