Mass media helps to disseminate information quickly to a large audience, shaping public opinion, influencing social trends, and facilitating communication on a global scale. It can also be a powerful tool for raising awareness, promoting public discourse, and holding individuals and organizations accountable. Additionally, mass media provides a platform for entertainment, education, and cultural exchange.

To be apolitical.

The function of mass media is to present the story--that's it, nothing else; to quote Joe Firday, "Just the facts." There should be no bias, there should be no favoritism, there should be no political leanings. The first order of all journalists is to remain objective and removed at all times, in all reporting.

The sad fact is that this is a dead ethic. Not one jounalist, reporter, or media outlet today successfully maintains their ethical objectivity. They have, without exception, become the talking heads of this or that political party or special (personal) interest group.
