As it is part of Britain, it has been in many wars. So it has been part of wars like World War I and World War II and lots of others where British troops have been involved. Lots of soldiers from Wales have been in the British Army.

No, thank Heavens. The only Welsh victims of the Holocaust were a few dozen Welsh troops and airmen who were unfortunate enough to somehow end up in Hitler's concentration camps after being captured during WW2, and repeatedly managing to escape from their PoW camps. Even then however, Western troops were not usually exterminated in the gas chambers, although some were executed by firing squad.

But tens of thousands of Welsh servicemen and women fought in the British or Allied armies against the Third Reich, many of them being among the first to enter the death camps when the places were liberated.

In previous ages though, the Welsh have been terribly persecuted, and had terrible genocides perpetrated against them. Although they succeeded in keeping the Romans out of all but the South of Wales, they suffered dreadfully under the Normans and then the Mediaeval English, a process which only ended when King Henry VII - who was himself a Welshman - took the English throne.

Also, along with the rest of the British Isles, they suffered badly at the hands of Viking raiders from the 7th - 10th Centuries A.D.
