It is not absolutely necessary to take the tea bag out of your tea. Many people I know leave the bags in the pot and the pot on the warming element of the stove. This will however result in bitter tea.

Leaving a tea bag in your cup, although I have seen it done, is to me just "yucky", particularly if you add milk to your tea.

Can you take tea bags to Mexico on the plane?

Packed in your luggage you should have no problems. Tea is not a major native crop and dried tea is not restricted. I would not take loose tea in an unmarked bag however as it could be mistaken for other substances.

Why does the water turn brown when a tea bag is added in boiling water?

When a tea bag is placed in water, the water fills the tea bag. The soluble matter of the tea leaves, what essentially makes the tea, then diffuses into the water through the bag. The brown coloring is a result of this process.
