What is an analog sensor?

An analog sensor is a device that measures an analog quality (such as temperature, wind speed, sound frequency or velocity). Many of us fail to recognize the difference between qualitative and quantitative measurements. Quantitative descriptors are actually just the result of counting something; seventeen marbles, five folding chairs, three apples... Qualitative descriptors are the result of estimating something; eight cups of sliced apples, a five pound bag of marbles, the current room temperature. When we use a scale to measure something, it's called "qualitative"... or analog. Converters are available that allow a computer to achieve a close approximation of an analog measurement, but for the computer to use the value it must first be converted to a digital signal. Inside the computer, that digital signal is all ones and zeroes, but many of them can be put together to represent a very large number. If that doesn't help, perhaps a basic physics class or even a computer "digital logic" class might be beneficial.

What do you mean by analog signal and digital signal?

Digital signals have discrete encoded states that they switch between. They can only assume the defined encoded values. Errors can often be easily detected and sometimes corrected.Analog signals are continuous and change smoothly from one value to another, passing through all intermediate values. There is no way to identify errors.

In telegraphy how you are using frequency shift keying?

Like in modems, you make digital zeros one frequency and digital ones another frequency.

What are different types of electric machines?

Based on the electric supply electric machines are classified in to two types namely AC and DC machines. These are further classified in to different ones.

What is Differrence Of Analog and Digital?

Digital = coputerized bits (ones & zeros). Analog = waves produced by certain hardware (generally speaking).

Should my analog to digital converter box work now or do I have to wait until the day in February?

It will work with the channels that have switched to digital, but unless your converter box can take in both analog and digital, you will have to wait for the analog ones to switch.

Is the Sony Camcorder digital?

Sony has a wide range of camcorders, some digital some not. If you are looking for digital there are such ones as the HDR-TD10 or the HDR-P150V. If you are looking for analog then there is the CCD-TRV67 Hi-8 analog camcorder.

Whatis the function of modem?

MOdulate/DEModulate. It converts digital computer signals into analog ones for transmission over analog telephone lines, and then converts the signal back into digital on the other end.

What is difference between analog and digital data.how they different in their transmission?

Analog data differs in intensity. Digital consists of ones and zeros. Think of the difference as being like the difference between a drum and a violin. A drum is either on or off, and so is a piano. Although a violin does turn on and off, it constantly gives out information without turning on and off and it gradually goes between loud and soft. In a car, your speedometer is analog. Your headlights are digital. (They are either on or off) At one time they were transmitted differently. Analog data was sent by changing the height or frequency of a electronic sigh wave. Today, both are sent by a series of ones and zeroes. Then a receiver changes them back to analog or digital.

What does the term digitise mean?

To convert from analog (continuously varying) to digital (consisting of ones and zeros) -usually discrete steps that can closely mimic the analog signal.

What are the advantages of digital hearing aids over the traditional analog units?

Analog hearing aids simply boost the volume level of things around you. Digital ones can boost specific frequencies that need boosting instead.

What is electronic timer?

A timer implemented with electronic components instead of mechanical ones. Most electronic timers are also digital, not analog (but if a display is not required a few are analog to reduce costs).

What does digital recording do to an analog sound wave?

It quantizes it into discrete points represented by zeros and ones (digital information). The number of samples must be at least two times the highest frequency component of the analog wave. The number of bits in each sample determines how close the digital information is to the actual value of the analog signal.

Why is an ADSL modem not a true modem?

ADSL is not considered a "true" modem because it is completely digital and does not perform the modulation and demodulation (mo/dem) of converting analog signals into digital ones.
