Extracurricular activities provide a chance for students to make friendships outside of the regular classroom. When a student takes part in an extracurricular activity, he will meet other people his age who have similar interests, thus making it more likely that he will have things in common with those students and bond with them.
You will need to have a college degree to be a counselor. I suggest looking into a degree program for social work.
Actually UCLA is just like any other major Division I school; And as there is no specific activities that will sway the admissions board to say "wow that kid did that activity just for us" well all activities look the same to all colleges, and there arent any that are better then others, except maybe in the duration and quality department.
I suggest talking to your guidance counselor first. He or she will be able to direct you to several local or national scholarships you that may apply to you. Once you have the information for available scholarships, you should make a list of all extra-curricular activities you've been involved in, both in and out of your high school. Follow the scholarship directions carefully, giving the committee all that is asked for, such as transcripts and essays. After you do this, you should be able to send your scholarship applications in. Make sure to work ahead of deadlines and good luck!

I would suggest scientist-look-alike contest, futuristic dance, fashion show featuring dresses made of recycled materials and science quiz. The students may find them very interesting and enjoyable.

Why do you want to do anything. Many people believe this way, and he is entitled to his belief. If you believe that there is some concern for his mental health, I would suggest inviting him to meet your spiritual counselor. Your counselor may be able to help.
A counselor is supposed to listen to you and hopefully deduce the root of emotional distress. They may even have qualifications to suggest treatment options, be they behavioral or medicinal. Therefore, it is essential to take an active role in finding the right counselor. Qualities like gender, personality and specialty could mean the difference between effective counseling and more stress. Do not feel obligated to stay with a counselor if he or she is not working out.
