germs kill white blood cells and some times the white blood cells can fight back. if the immune system is warned it will send messages to the brain to do what ever the immune system told the brain to do, the brain will get rid of the germs. if you always take medicine the immune system cant fight the germs because it is always used to having medicine. so if somthing like cancer comes to your body you will die.

Pathogens are germs that can cause disease. They can enter the body in three different ways.

  1. The first way is called droplet. This can be through sneezing or coughing etc.
  2. A second way is skin contact. This can be if you touch someone or something that is already infected. Germs can live on surfaces for up to 3 hours.
  3. The last way is through broken skin. This can be when a cut or graze etc gets infected.

they attack helthy cells and infect them so much that they make you sick.

For details, look at a microbiology textbook. For example, chapter 33 of Willey, Sherwood, Woolverton Microbiology (7th ed.)

Some of the ways

a. The germs (bacteria in particular) secrete substances toxic to human cells - e.g. Clostridium botulinum secretes boylism toxin

b. They eat (phagotize) critical parts of the cell causing its death. Examples ?

c. (particular case of b) They rupture cell membranes causing the cells to lyse (rupture and die). Many viruses do this.

d. They activate the immune system (many pathways). The body's immune response often makes you feel sick. For example, temperature rises (part of the inflammatory process) either locally at an infection site or throughout the body.

There are many ways that germs (bacteria) help us. They sit on our skin and take up space so that harmful bacteria can't live or grow as rapidly. They line our digestive system and, again, take up space so that harmful bacteria can't. They also aid in digestion.

If you've ever been on an antibiotic, you might have experienced unusual upsets like gas and diarrhea. The antibiotics have killed off some of your natural flora, causing harmful bacteria to thrive in your gut and make your intestines irritated.

Antibacterial soaps were originally made for doctors to use; doctors are around people with week immune systems and open wounds. Although regular soap doesn't kill all the harmful bacteria, it does kill off most of the harmful bacteria without killing the regular, healthy bacteria on your skin. When you use antibacterial soap, you kill more of the bad bacteria, but also kill the healthy flora of your skin. This is good for doctors who don't want to spread infection to their patients, but not at all healthy for an individual to use daily. Not only does it make you more prone to infections, but it also contributes to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

Bacteria are present everywhere; there's no getting away from them. Drop the antibacterial soap, only use antibiotics if recommended by a professional, and think of them when you eat, because they're digesting part of your food for you!
