How can you forgive someone without the other person there if you need to confront the other person to forgive them?

Forgiveness is internal, and is all about you. If you really want to forgive someone, then you don't necessarily have to talk to him or her. It's perfectly normal to want to talk to someone about how they hurt you so it doesn't happen again. Confronting the other person in this case could even exacerbate the problem if you are in a state of mind that could lead to another argument.

For some, perhaps. Certainly not for everyone. It is absolutely possible for everyone to forgive, although many people refuse to, not realizing that by doing so they only harm themselves. Forgiveness has little or nothing to do with the other person. It has everything to do with the one forgiving. Look at it this way: someone has caused you harm, and you can either forgive that person and put to rest any continued harm, or you can harbor ill feelings and let the damage continue.

It can happen that I didn't forgive someone for his/her doing, but I may forgive someone near-and-dear one for doing the same. 3) It may occur that in the past, someone did something wrong intentionally and so I didn't forgive him/her; but now if I see someone doing the same wrong thing unconsciously and unintentionally, and after finding own fault he/she has intention to be changed, then I'll forgive him.
