Cats are obligate carnivores. That is a fancy term for 'is only supposed to consume meat'. Cats come originally from an arid climate in a part of Africa. They developed as a species in such a way as to get most of their required water from their meals- one stop feeding and drinking whenever the bird or rodent became dinner. Wet food from a (high quality) can is pretty close to what they are already predisposed to need as well as want in a meal. Dry food from the average grocery is extremely high in carbohydrates and vegetable matter. Both of those are not good for obligate carnivores that spend most of their days sleeping and occasionally chasing a toy around the floor for a few minutes. They need high-protein diets, much like what they would find in the wild. The ideal solution for a (domestic) cat is to feed it high-protein quality food. For dry types, usually this costs around $12 - $18 per 8 pound bag, and for wet around 75 cents to a $1.00 per 6 ounce can in the Eastern United States outside of really large cities like New York.

Dogs prefer wet dog food over dry...its common sense. It tastes better, and it has stuff like actually slice of meat and veggies in it. To get you dog to eat dry, you might have to wet it with water or dog gravy over the first couple of days. Eventually, they might actually eat it. If otherwise - take you dog to the vet so he/she can recommened preferable dry food. That's is why its good to start your pet on dry dog food from he start. :)

Slowly start to mix the wet food in with the dry - a little bit at a time. Every day or couple of days, decrease the amount of dry and increase the wet.

Some cats are picky so this may take some time - but its worth it! You can even crumble a treat or two into the wet to entice your cat to eat if he/she is being stubborn.

Your cat probably likes the dry food more so your cat is most likely to eat the dry so if you put less dry and two or three treats into the wet food he will smell his treats and go to the wet food and when he eats all the dry food he will have no choice but to eat the wet. If this does not help with in three days then take him to the local vet.

This solely depends on the cat's taste, or what it is used to. Some cats prefer wet, some prefer dry. Other cats will eat whatever is put in front of them!

How many pounds of food does a cat eat monthly?

This really depends on the quality of the food the cat is fed on, also how much food the cat eats in a day (the lower quality the food, the more the cat will eat). For a cat fed on a premium-quality wet cat food, it would probably eat approximately 15lbs of food per month.
