More than likely, you have a blown head gasket. Do not drive this car in this condition. Serious engine damage will occur. Have it repaired ASAP The above answer is correct, but it may also be that your engine block has a crack in it. This would be much worse and again must be repaired.

It is possible for engine oil to float on engine coolant. This occurs when there is a leaking or blown gasket.

Why is 1987 Honda Accord overheating with new radiator new hoses no leaks and full of water but no coolant.?

Check to see if coolant is mixing with engine oil. Run engine to normal operating temperature and remove oil dipstick, let a drop of fluid fall onto a hot part of engine, oil will smoke and coolant will sizzle. If coolant is into engine oil could be a sign of a bad head gasket If fluid level is correct, but still overheating, could be: Thermostat is not opening Water pump not circulating coolant Cooling fan not working

Does a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette have an oil cooler?

Yes, the 2000 Olds Silouette has an engine oil cooler, as well as a transmission oil cooler for the automatic tranny. The engine oil cooler is built in to the engine oil filter housing. Water/coolant enters from the engine block, circulates around the filter housing and exits through a tube to the lower intake manifold. If an engine starts getting oil in the coolant and coolant in the engine oil, this could very well be the source of the problem. An internal leak.

Why is oil in coolant bottle?

Does it have a oil cooler on the engine ?? If it does then oil runs through tubes that are inside of the radiator to cool the oil, and the tubes are leaking oil into the engine coolant. REPLACE RADIATOR. Really need to know what you are working on. Engine size and year. It could verywell be something else. Let us know NEUTZ.

How long can you drive with oil leading into the radiator?

Oil in the radiator indicates a possible severe problem, where coolant could also leak into the oil. Driving an engine in this situation at all could lead to severe engine damage.

What would cause engine oil to get milky brown in cold weather?

Probably coolant in the oil from a blown head gasket which might also cause excessive steam from the tailpipe and hard starting. The coolant also could get into the oil through a crack in the engine block.

When my engine cools I am losing water coolant apparently not from a hose or direct from leaky radiator what can be the cause?

This sounds like bad news. The coolant could be leaking into your engine and mixing with the engine oil, then cooking off. A simple test can tell if there's water in your oil.

Why is there froth in your car's engine oil?

It could be that it was overfilled, or it could be that there is a crack in the head gasket that is allowing coolant to enter the oil pan. Or it could simply be condensation in the engine which usually occurs if the car does too many short journeys.

What happens when you accidentally put coolant where motor oil goes?

You drain the oil immediately. If you run the engine with coolant mixed with the oil you will do serious harm to the engine. If you continue to drive it in this condition you will destroy the engine.
