It can, if untreated, be fatal. It is very dangerous. small pox was very dangerous as it killed every one who got it. there was a small pox epidemic that killed thousands. a scientist realised that people that had had cow pox (in the same family of disease) were immune to small pox. He carried out a test on a boy with his parents permission, injected him with a small dose of cow pox and then a few weeks later injected him with small pox wih good results. after vaccinations, Britain is now cleared of small pox. that's what Mr Stanton taught me at HMS. ;p That scientist was Edward Jenner.
