As such Buddhism did not reject anything about Hinduism rather the people were exploited by he priests and their approach was too dogmatic and blind faith was on the spread. Caste ism was on the rise these are some of the factors that lead to the popularity of Buddhism but the Hindu priests felt the threat and saw the downfall of Hinduism, meanwhile King Asoka took upon himself to spread Buddhism but it couldn't hold roots in India .
