How did Darren Shan became famous?

If you mean how the Saga of Darren Shan inspires its readers, I think I can tell you a bit about how it inspired me. :)

I was first introduced to this twelve part series in Grade 6, when my elementary school teacher read the first book to the class as a lunch time story--yeah, kind of unusual!-- reading a book about vampires and Freak show to elementary kids... But I'm glad he did! This series is really more than blood-suckers and weird creatures.

The saga is filled with inspiring characters through which the author discusses some of the most controversial topics of life. For instance, what is the right thing to do? How do you know that what you believe is right isright? Even if it is the right choice is it the best choice?

"...this is a mad world... Because I spared the life of my brother --- who once saved mine --- our greatest enemy has escaped and our people face defeat. What sort of a world is it where evil is born of an act of goodness?" Vancha Harst explored one of the great paradoxes of this puzzling world. Another good quotation: this one is from Harkat "Both fighting for the same reason, both terrified of the ... same thing. Of course, if neither side fought ... both would be safe. Mr. Tiny is playing the creatures of the night for fools, and we're helping him." I found it so true when applied to the wars and disputes in our world.

Having said all that, the most inspiring element is perhaps the way Darren Shan denies destiny and fights to the end. He defeats the evil set by Des Tinyand defeats the evil desire of revenge within himself. The Saga of Darren Shan is such an amazing saga that reveals the power of an individual's free will.
