Florida was attractive to people of the neighboring states and many moved into the area. It became a territory when it was ceded from Spain in the Transcontinental Treaty in 1891, but it wasn't until 1821 that all parts of the treaty were met. In 1845 it became a state.

In 1845, Florida entered the US as the 27th US State. When foreign claims of the land were paid to Spain, the American population grew. The state prospered because of the farmlands that produced a large amount of fruit and vegetable products. Native Tribe uprisings were quelled by federal forces.
