Crusoe and Friday killed the most belligerent of them, and the others turned themselves over to Crusoe, swearing loyalty. With control of the ship, Crusoe prepared to return to England. Some of the mutineers, however, chose to remain on the island rather than return to England and hang.

In the first movie, there are two instances about Jack escaping from an island. First, is a story that Gibbs is telling Will Turner on a ship during a storm, en route to Isla De Morte. His story was how Jack had been marooned on an island by Hector Barbossa. Will asked how he got off, and Gibbs explained that he had 'roped a couple of sea turtles' and they took him away.

The second instance was when they actually show in the first film how Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann are both marooned on an island, the same one Jack was first marooned on. There, they escape when Elizabeth burned all the rum barells out of the hidden stash on the island and the palm trees. She wanted to create a signal for nearby ships, and ship finally saw them, who had the Govenor (Elizabeth's father) and Norrington (Elizabeth's fiance).
