the colonists of Jamestown survived starvation in many ways. they were given food from the friendly native Americans, James Rolfe introduced tobacco. john smith showed them many things too. women also helped by cooking, cleaning and working on the crops while the men worked and hunted.hoped i helped!:D

∙ 14y agoThey really didn't .In the first 7 months of the 104 men who arrived only 34 were alive. They ate shoe leather, rats, mice, and anything else they could find. It was John Rolf you saved the colony with tobacco when he introduced it to the colony.
