Julius Caesar benefited Rome by first of all, by ending the civil war. He added the territory of Gaul, settled the unrest in Spain and pacified the rebels in the Middle East. In that sense the borders were relatively secure. He gave the Romans a new updated calendar, and the first newspaper. He had many more pieces of legislation that he intended to put through but was killed before he could enact them. His conquests also brought loot and wealth to Rome.
