How did Muhammad win over his first converts?

Allah (God in English) is the founder of Islam and not prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is God prophet and messenger to whom God revealed Quran through the Angel Gabriel (jibril) to call people for Islam.

In several ways. Some were attracted to the core of his message; some were impressed by his sincerity; some tribal members accepted Islam because their chieftains did; as Islam emerged as a conquering religion, many joined to share in the spoils; others joined as an alternative to death.

the Prophet spreads the message of Islam through showing humanity an example of an excellent human being. In all the roles that he played in his life, he gave humanity examples in every aspect and in every sense.It has been mentioned in Mubarakpuri's biography of the Prophet Muhammad, Ar-Rahiq Al-Makhtum,that when Ja`far ibn Abi Talib was asked by Al-Najashi, the King of Ethiopia at the time, about the message of Muhammad, Ja`far said:

"He (Muhammad) is a man who is asking us to be honest, chaste, and good to our relatives."

When `A'ishah, the Prophet's wife, was asked about his manners, she said:

"His manners were the Quran." "He was a Quran walking on earth" .

as Quran states that "call to the way of your lord with wisdom and goodly exhortation, and have disputations with them in the best manner; surely your lord best knows those who go astray from his path, and he knows best those who follow the right way"

It was the honesty and piety of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) that appealed to the people to convert accept Islam. He preached the message of Almighty Allah which impressed the people to convert to Islam.
